An American oriole (Icterus galbula) that is characterized
by the black and orange plumage of the male and that includes
the Baltimore oriole of the eastern U.S. and a more western form
(I. g. bullockii) with a black and orange head. They are swift
fliers with clear calls, orioles feed on fruit, mainly berries, or
insects. Orioles are easily attracted with orange halves and oriole
feeders.
